Hello Orbers and welcome to our OOC intro + gamewide CR meme! We hope you're all excited for the upcoming sixth mission, the mission file and plotting post for which will be coming out just a couple of days. Other such important dates are noted in our updated calendar page.

In the meantime, we'd like to invite new players and characters to comment under this header to introduce themselves and their characters. Meanwhile, existing players are highly encouraged to make their own comments and mingle!

ETC: west coast PST-er from mooseland! i try to get a round of tags out every 3-4 days (except on those days when work is overwhelming and the brains aren't cooperating). i'm usually around on evenings + weekends and if time/scheduling allows i do enjoy a good boomerang sesh!

INFO:

long story short, the doctor is an alien from a planet called gallifrey. he's called a time lord, so named for his ability to travel backwards and forwards through time (and space), and is ~sensitive to time anomalies and the like. his kind also have the ability to 'regenerate', so they live for a very, very long time.

this doctor (not his real name) is in his "eleventh" regeneration (bit complicated, but we're not gonna get into it unless it comes up in threads!) and has the exuberance and infinite energy of a ... 12 year old, but it's fine. he's got two hearts (true) and twenty-seven brains (probably not true), and is incredibly amiable, quick to jump into literally any situation, and is, in his words: here to help. however, because he's now about 2,100 years old, he's been doing this for a very long time. sometimes this shows. sometimes he'll redouble his efforts not to let it show. but generally he's here for a good time — and to undo his regret.

REGRET:

speaking of! his greatest regret hasn't changed even after his canon update. being so attached to the ponds, he still fully blames himself for their incredibly unfair deaths. he doesn't want to erase their relationship, of course, but he'll want to bring them back and give them the life that was robbed from them. (and a part of him really doesn't think any of this is possible either, so. you know.)

CR WISHLIST:

- i'm here to keep that good development coming! i've been #blessed with so many opportunities for a lot of his cr to move past 'hey there's that nerd who talks a lot!' and really get to know the doc, and i'm here to just keep working on it
- absolutely here for any and all of silly/serious/emotional/ridiculous Shenanigans (tm)
- new people he can annoy
- old people he can still annoy
- family ;;
- not really here for negative cr but i love complicated, deep cr so hmu with that

RECAP:

five missions completed with about 85-90% success! (a couple of planets were left in less than awesome shape) this last one was a bit of a doozy, and came right at the cusp of the doctor getting a reset. he's between being regenerated and being reset so he had a little bit of an existential moment.

he's really started to develop a circle of close friends and people he'll regularly check up on, which is great! i'm super happy with that! but one of those people (a certain nerdy doctor newton geiszler) is starting to worry him ... and he has no idea why. hmmm. also there were four attempts on his life last mission! and he has no idea who could be responsible for that either. 🤔

CHARACTER: shang-chi "shaun" xu (he mostly goes by shaun with the exception of like, two people on the station who know his real name)

just your regular child assassin with a warlord criminal father and a whole pool's worth of issues nbd. but no, shang-chi is a good boy who was raised in a pretty harsh environment alongside his little sister. he was sent on a revenge hit at 14, his dad's first assignment to him, and while he would have done anything to get his dad's approval, it also utterly wrecked him so he ran away to america (thereby abandoning said little sis) where he'd been lying low for about ten years before he was forcefully called back home. hijinks and tragedy and dragons! ensues.

but yet despite all of the violence of his childhood, there are some soft moments that have stayed with him and kept him a good person. (along with just having a good heart, honestly.) shang-chi has a strong moral compass, and is re-learning the importance of family and what it means to have family. no more hiding.

... so about that little sister? well, in running away because he was guilty and ashamed and felt like he'd become a monster, he abandoned his sister to the ten rings compound. this is his big big regret as it essentially estranged them from each other and it's totally his fault.

— he's a little more reserved than the doctor so working on deepening his cr is always on my list!

— he's kind of a baby superhero at this point, has no idea what exactly that entails, so some guidance and mentors would be cool
— training/sparring buddies
— people to karaoke/drink/party/be idiots with
— younger peeps he can adopt and big bro

he's getting the hang of these missions and the orb-retrieval! slowly but surely. last mission he was in some version of 'heaven' and made some very bad life choices, but he got out of it okay. saved some people, helped some crewmates, generally vibed ... and failed his personal goal, but it's fine, it's fine.

I JUST WANT TO SAY I have every intention of getting back to the threads we have going. I keep wanting to get to them but life has been SO MUCH lately.

Anyway also we should do more stuff, too, when I have time/energy bc i love these two. I was bummed Yelena and Shang-Chi didn't get to team up somehow last mission.

BUT YEAH hell yeah, maybe there will be ways for the two of them to team-up this upcoming mission!!! we'll look for opportunities. 🙏

I would still really like these two to meet and do stuff.... any stuff.... together one day. /o/ *reaches for* Maybe this next mission will accommodate better this time. :3

YEAH!! lets absolutely find some opportunities for the boys to meet and do something. april was a hot mess of a month so hopefully may brings us some good fun.
