A WASTE TO LIVE: VOTING POST FOR THE CONCLUSION

A WASTE TO LIVE: VOTING POST FOR THE CONCLUSION

The time has come for the team to decide how they wish to proceed through the conclusion of the mission. As a refresher, this is what is known to the characters prior to the conclusion:

the Dai'a Svar are aware that the spark is draining on the planet's life force, but will persist in using it regardless

• Kovacs has recovered the orb native to this planet after the death of Kal Chomai

• the orb from Amaryllis Grove continues to masquerade as Jial Bryn, who is currently in the Dome in the Roof

• something, or someone, is able to nullify the effect of the limestone on powers, as evidenced by it no longer working on the city walls

· THE VOTE

For this mission, the team can decide on two things, and each character gets one vote to either suggest a solution or +1 one suggestion of their choice.

For the vote, your character has to decide on:

Keep in mind that characters are not required to vote on either of these, nor are they limited to these two choices. If you think anything else needs to be addressed, do so here.

Voting ends February 25. The conclusion goes live February 28, when characters will return to the station.

What state are the characters in if they were under the orb's feel-all-the-pain-ever from the Tower orb? Are they free since the orb is retrieved or something else?

Similar question to the above: if we did the prompt where we snapped someone out of Jial's hold, what happens after since she built a wall up behind them?

Potentially Apprehending

Hagakure thinks maybe it could be a good idea to try and launch as many of the orbers available at Jial in one swoop, in an attempt to at the very least apprehend her...! (Or, you know, if orbers want to try and kill her -- but Hagakure won't be actually gunning to kill in this effort, just beat up until a surrender might happen.)

She will try to use the blobtastic powers she inherited from Rita to either wrap around Jial or grow larger in size (or at least grow her hands in size) to try and literally grab Jial for the others.

Whatever the other, older folks in the crew choose, she'll readily gravitate towards instead, but whatever the choice she is absolutely here to try and buy them all time to do it with these newfound powers she's got -- albeit clumsily.

Daisy, while without her powers, is willing to try and take down Jial. She has her gun on her, and while she won’t want to kill her. Daisy isn’t against harming her in a non fatal way.

However, if she sees Jial is harming Orbers or innocent people she’ll try to get them out of harms way.

violence is always the answer and while anakin won't necessarily be aiming for murder, he's not going to go out of his way to keep her alive or in one piece.

he still has his normal powers so he could potentially assist with keeping her still. alternatively he also has a laser sword to slice off body parts if it ends up being more difficult.

We all for that kinder way out but Yzak also only does that for so long and is more on the not going out of his way to avoid killing AND if it came down to it he's willing to bloody his hands up with Anakin if it's gotta be done. Fuck an orb.

He didn't power swap, so he's got his Charter Magic to offer in terms of defense for the team/innocents, and can do things like binding magic to buy even a few seconds. Also general Coordinator speed/strength/reflexes are at play and he's got a knife and a GUN 🔫 that he isn't afraid to use

Ziggy will recommend anyone with the powers make it so that they can get over to the roof now that the Tower orb has been received, so that they can provide back-up against Jial. If nobody is able to, she will attempt to get there ASAP via jetpack at full power, but she's not sure she'll be able to make it there in time to provide any aid.

If she is, however, she will absolutely try to help apprehend/fight Jial, especially if no other plans work in trying to get back the orb.

+1 Apprehend or just have someone grab the Orb

[personal profile] astudyinviolet 2024-02-25 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Once someone grabs the Orb, they all go back to the station. Since Sherlock isn't sure they should get involved with a conflict that existed before the Orbs arrived, he's not as worried about making sure the people of this world's problem is solved before they go. Wei Wuxian's ghosts, trying to prevent loss of life on both sides, and removing the Orbs from the equation seem enough. The Orbers can't make the final decisions for them.

However, Sherlock's completely in the wrong area and concentrated on the Tower to truly know the situation, so all he can do is wish people luck.

Vash is of course up for the version of this plan that doesn’t include murder, and he’s fast, so while Hagakure has her grabbed he can try to snatch the Orb so it’s forced to go back to the station with all of them.

He also has a gun he will use (nonlethally) to protect himself

The T-800 is simply attempting to keep the two warring groups separated in the heat of combat, if possible; if the spark-users do not retreat or attempt to continue killing fellow orbers, he will do whatever he has in his power to restrain them. He ultimately doesn't feel they need to do much more, since this isn't their fight or world to meddle in outside of their mission objective, but that's just from the perspective of a robot who really is just here for the orb.

(At some point he'll already be down -1 arm, but he can still shoot with the other, okay.)

Shinn will strongly advocate for incapacitating (and killing, if necessary) Garam in an above-board/non-martyr-y way. Garam's charisma increasingly seems like a big motivator for the Dai'a Svar, and tarnishing his stature could be the most effective way to get the Dai'a Svar to back down and stop the fighting. Beyond stopping fighting in the city, Shinn also thinks that if the squad fails to recover the Amaryllis Orb then they should at least stop the Dai'a Svar from going on an interplanetary rampage. (Because he didn't go to the Tower, he doesn't have the full context that Dai'a Svar "benefactor" is the Tower Orb not the Amaryllis Orb.)

Unless convinced that this is a bad idea and/or someone with a better chance of winning a fight against Garam volunteers, he will show up ten hours late without Starbucks and pick this fight himself.

[personal profile] lostdestiny 2024-02-24 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Because we're close to the end of the voting and things are quiet, Shinn will attempt the following:

- Show up late because he had to hike over after being knocked out, grab some non-wall limestone (one or two pairs of handcuffs, and also just some small shards), and fight his way over to wherever Garam is.

- Pick a fight with Garam, while shouting passionately about how yes he knows Garam and his people have suffered, but that doesn't give them the right to make other people suffer and just start the whole cycle over again.

- In terms of an actual fight, Shinn's goal will be to tag Garam with limestone and then incapacitate -- although he'll kill if incapacitation isn't feasible. Shinn has peak-human reflexes and is great at dodging while getting up close to a target, and he'll chuck the limestone shards at Garam to try to disrupt spark-using attacks. In terms of offense/defense, he'll start out with a knife until he he's pressed, at which point he'll also pull out a pistol because, screw it, if the Dai'a Svar want to take a war to another world then they should know that other worlds have invented firearms; he's good but not at a "studied this my whole life and am a genius" level, so defer to mod discretion on how successful any of this is.

Team let the ghosts have a say

[personal profile] singlelogbridge 2024-02-25 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Wei Wuxian would propose (temporarily) raising the spirits of those who first realized what the Spark was and allowing them to try to speak reason to Garam and the others. He doesn't believe it's their place to make a decision one way or the other, and knows that they could ultimately make things worse, but allowing their own people the chance to try and speak to them feels like a way to keep his promise to Jaima Bryn to spread the word, while also recognizing the autonomy of the people.

Joric endorses this idea and is willing to come along with Wei Wuxian as backup while he's doing his raising the spirits thing to protect him using his temporary quake powers to keep any of the Dai'a Svar from getting too close. It's known by the Orbers that the spark users are working with the Orb so if the spirits can't convince them, Joric will throw in that they've collected these orbs before and they thrive on spreading chaos. He'll speak of this orb and what it did to Amaryllis Grove, pointing out that once it takes them to this new place it promised them, what makes them think they'll be free to do as they please? The orb will treat them the same way and they'll be prisoners while the Orb feeds off their fears and anxiety.

Ivy would support him in that. Mostly because she thinks he's smart, and she doesn't have many better ideas.

She might make some snide remarks about how they could also ask the plants how they feel about things, but not in a mean spirited way.

Wei Wuxian would gladly welcome the input of the plants! Honestly, they live on the planet too and he thinks they also deserve a say. If he and Ivy can figure out a way to give them a voice, or failing that, if Ivy is willing to speak for them to the people, he'd have her back.

Shinn would support that and be delighted for it to work. He'll hold off on picking a fight with Garam to see if this works for a substantial chunk of the Dai'a Svar.

Newton agrees, if they can temporarily allow those from the past to speak to the current folks, they should at least try it out. Even if it doesn't work, if feels right to do for the society itself.

Sherlock hasn't been paying close attention to the city side of things as he was concentrating on Tower things. He also can't really provide in person help as he's in completely the wrong area and feeling rough from it, but this sounds like a good idea to him. Knowledge is important.

He's also unsure about the Orber's role in this beyond retrieving the Amaryllis Grove Orb because this is a conflict that existed before the Orb arrived. He's learned some things from Cordona.
