MISSION [ the sun never sets on amaryllis grove ] + plotting post

The people who reside in the town of Amaryllis Grove have never known anything other than the comforts and daily routines of their perfectly pleasant everyday lives. The adults take care of the household, the children are obedient as they go to school and return home to partake in wholesome extracurriculars. The town provides shelter, nourishment, and a neighbourly presence that could make anyone want to bake up a meatloaf or fruit-cake for the next get-together dinner. Of course, the more time one spends in town, the clearer it becomes that perfection can often be a thin veneer easily peeled back to find some deeper, perhaps flawed truth.
The team’s objective is to find and retrieve the orb. Viveca has traced it to Amaryllis Grove, but the team will have to find exactly where it is.
In order to have the best chance of finding information, the team will need to blend into the rough makings of a nuclear family fabric by partnering up into small units of 2-4 and creating false backstories. Thanks to Degar’s magic, locals will have false memories implanted that will allow Orbers to move around the town without stirring too much suspicion.
1404 Chapel Hill: At the top of a literal hill sits a white pillared, red-bricked Americana-style mansion that has existed just abouts when Amaryllis Grove was established. It has housed every Grove leader since establishment and continues to do so with the current leadership. There are pleasant, friendly touches added to the perfectly manicured lawn and the interior.
Abbey Park: In the centre of Amaryllis Grove, just past Chapel Hill and Wicker Drive, Abbey Park is a large green-grassed landscape with walkable trails, football fields, and a quaint little duck pond for residents to hold picnics and gatherings by. A gazebo is situated near the end of Wicker Drive and often holds musical events and the town’s talent show, hosted by the Housespouses of Amaryllis Grove.
Amaryllis Grove Primary School and Amaryllis Grove High School: Along Wisteria Street are two intimidating brick buildings that neighbour each other. The primary school teaches the younger students basic subjects such as reading, writing, and maths; and once they have graduated, they enter the high school to complete their education with hopes for a bright future similar to that of their parents. Students wear uniforms and spend nearly their entire days behind the closed doors.
The Housespouses of Amaryllis Grove: A humble group of stay-at-home mums and dads gather every month for their usual luncheon, which includes all manner of delectable potluck dish, drinks, and some equally delicious gossip. Invitations are only given out to those who have the time to attend the monthly event, as it takes place during the 9-5 work day.
The Mayor: Appointed by the very people who live in Amaryllis Grove by way of democratic vote, the Mayor, Chantilly Stuart, lives with her family at the very top of Chapel Hill but has something of an open-door policy for residents who may have ideas and aspirations for a brighter, better Amaryllis Grove.
The Silent Companions: Strange figures that seem to occupy places where spaces need to be filled. They do not talk, they do not move, but they look uncannily like they could live, breathe, and exist amongst the people of Amaryllis Grove.
This mission will span the months of October and November.
The team’s main objective is to find the orb and retrieve it. To do that, they will have to learn where the orb is located and who might be in possession of it.
Characters will fabricate made up backstories and divide themselves into small family units. Through Degar’s magic, the locals will have their memories altered to accommodate any backstory an Orber creates. Note that “families” in Amaryllis Grove can look like anything, so ones created by Orbers can consist of any combination of gender and ages.
Though magic does exist on the continent, those not in humanoid form will have to take a potion that will either make them look humanoid, or alter their features in a way that will make them seem like one of the more alien-looking races in Amaryllis Grove (some even look like animal faces but on humanoid-shaped bodies). It is up to the player to decide what they would prefer for their character.
As always, characters are encouraged to share their findings and information through the network, and a mod-provided voting/plotting post will be posted later on in the month to prepare for the second log.
The personal goals have been assigned, and can be found here. If you have any questions about your goal, please ask us here! In the same comment, there are instructions for what to do if you are unhappy with the task your character has received.
