MISSION [ road to ankata ] + plotting post

The region of Ankata is home to a number of creatures called Cubits (kyoo-bits) and the people who live alongside them living in harmonious partnership. Made up of tall mountain ranges, fresh grass, clean air and blue skies, much of Ankata’s terrain is easily walkable, with a number of hiking trails nestled in and amongst the ten surrounding towns, each with its own unique character and speciality. It is the ideal location to strengthen the will and powers of the Cubits and their trainers through the ultimate test of endurance where the winner might become the Master Champion of Ankata.
The team’s objective is to find the orb. Viveca has traced it to the region of Ankata but they will need to locate its exact place of holding. In order to do so they will need to start by blending in with the locals: whether that is by becoming a trainer, a researcher, a breeder, and by building a small team to accompany them along their journey.
Beacon’s Hill sits on an elevated plane compared to the rest of its surrounding terrain as suggested by its namesake. Covered in soft, green grasses, this small and cozy town feels almost suburban, with cottages, a medical centre for both Cubits and people alike, and a research facility. It is here that one might start their journey from, located rather central within the region of Ankata. It is home to a number of Cubits but specializes in the grass type.
Towards the southern end of the Ankata region is the city of Goldthorp, which appears to have a higher level of technological prowess. Everything here runs on steam and is made up of intricate gears and valves, tall and elegant buildings, and a large clocktower in the centre of town that keeps time to the precise second. One will be able to find the gym just past the clocktower. It is home to a number of Cubits but specializes in the electric type.
The town of Poppyhurst is located rather inland, with the most direct route to and from the settlement made through Silverstake Mines. With cobblestone paths and buildings made from heavy-set stone, brick, and magically fire-resistant thatched roofing, Poppyhurst mostly makes its home to smiths and trainers that specialize in fire type Cubits but is outfitted with all of the necessary amenities for Cubit trainers across the region.
PROF. GINGER B. CRESS
The one who will greet you when you arrive, allowing you to choose the first Cubit on your team. She is well-renowned in Cubit-studies, with her research lab located in Beacon's Hill, and has been collecting data in Cubit types, habits, abilities, and habitats with her assistant for most of her adult life. She has recently begun expanding her research into the elusive Legendary Cubit for which there is very little information available ...
FLINT THORN
Always prepared for anything, Thorn can be found wandering the region of Ankata with his very large camper backpack and bicycle - his preferred mode of transportation. He will often be willing to part with healing potions and the like for a decent price, or if you’re in the mood to practice your battling skills before you hit that next Gym, Thorn makes a decent opponent and has very good sportsmanship.
YUUKI COMET
As current leader of the gym at Beacon’s Hill, Yuuki’s team is made up of Cubits with at least one half grass type. She is perfectly amiable and welcomes any and all challengers to visit her gym. She will be the first gym that a trainer looking into becoming a Champion will face but she is not to be underestimated. She has, after all, maintained her position for many years.
Team Torpedo
An organization of generally mysterious but ambitious Cubit trainers, their only goal appears to be to put their leader, Koga Birch, into the role of Champion and Master and will stop at just about nothing to do it. They are known for their less-than-lawful tactics, are seen as bullies and thugs, and have a penchant for robbing unsuspecting trainers of their Cubits, their gear, and their items along their journey. Battling them can often cow them enough to make a dash, but for the most part Team Torpedo ought to be avoided at all costs.
Yasuo Fern
Current Cubit Champion and Master, his story is one of true fairytale. Coming from the humble town of Beacon’s Hill, he began his journey with his Cubit, Bulbkip, and has proven that anyone can become a trainer and champion if they work hard enough! His story is spoken of all across the region as an inspiration to would-be trainers and children alike, reiterating themes of perseverance, determination, and tenacity.
This mission will span the month of July.
Characters will be sent out as one group but divided between the three starter towns: Beacon’s Hill, Goldthorp, and Poppyhurst. Where your character starts from is entirely up to the player to decide.
The team’s main objective is to find the orb and retrieve it. To do that, they will have to learn where the orb is located and who might be in possession of it, and battle their way through the ten gyms to retrieve it.
Battling gyms in Ankata require the possession and training of Cubits. Learn more about Cubits HERE.
The local demographic of Ankata consists mainly of human-like and human-adjacent species. Degar will be giving characters who are not normally humanoid a potion to disguise themselves throughout the duration of the mission. (Unless, of course, said character can and wish to disguise themselves as a fellow Cubit...)
Powers and similar abilities are not common and thus powered characters will be greatly encouraged by Viveca and Degar to be discreet.
For any questions about any of this, feel free to ask HERE.
As always characters are encouraged to share their findings and information through the network, and a mod-provided voting post will be posted later on in the month to prepare for the conclusion.
The personal goals have been assigned, and can be found HERE. If you have any questions about your goal, please ask us HERE! In the same comment, there are instructions for what to do if you are unhappy with the task your character has received.
