MISSION [ a matter of import ] + plotting post

In the Zeta Alatheia galaxy, the Interstellar Federation is responsible for overseeing the safety of all its planetary systems, dealing with any threats to its many planets and their inhabitants. Recently, they have observed disturbances in the Planetary Complex of Ndiera on the Outer Edge — otherwise a system known for its ghost-matter, an unseen substance that surrounds the planets that feeds on anything that might be classified as “powers”.
These disturbances coincide with a recent breakout from the high-security prison Obsidian Deep, where a convict called Zandr has escaped through unknown means. But whether it’s all a coincidence or not… that remains to be seen.
Viveca has traced the orb to the Planetary Complex of Ndiera — however, the readings for the orb are confusing, and she has been unable to pinpoint its exact location to any of the three planets of Ndiera. The team must find out which planet the orb is on and recover it.
In order to be able to cultivate background stories and have the time to establish them, the Orbers will be sent out in three batches — though all will be teleported at once, they will arrive in Ndiera at different times.
Group 1 will arrive one month prior to the next group and two months prior to the OOC start of the mission:
Shuntaro Chishiya, Unohana Retsu, Rita Farr, Newton Geizler, Kazuma Asogi, Yujin Mikotoba, the Darkling, Yzak Jule, Natasha Romanoff, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Wei Wuxian, Stephen Strange, Lúthien, Andromache, Cal Kestis, Castiel, Lan Sizhui, The Wrench, Yennefer of Vengerberg, Fox Mulder, Anthony Lockwood
Group 2 will arrive one month after Group 1, and one month before Group 3:
Finn Mertens, Takeshi Kovacs, Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, Leondard McCoy, Itachi Uchiha, Gina Lestrade, Ryunosuke Naruhodo, Mal Oretsev, Harley Quinn, Tim Gutterson, Tianyou Zhao, Shang-chi, Marta Cabrera, Nie Huaisang, Sabriel, Cassian Andor, Finn, Minimus Ambus, Geralt, Dana Scully, Adrian Bennet, Daisy Johnson
Group 3 will arrive two months after Group 1, and a month after Group 2, right before the events in the log:
Jake, Iris Black, Dante, Chuuta Kokonose, Ziggy Berman, Clarke Griffin, Yuri Leclerc, Alina Starkov, Poison Ivy, Yelena Belova, Joel Miller, Felix, Garma Zabi, A2, Joric, Jim Kirk, Jyn Erso, Rey, Dean Winchester, Vash the Stampede, Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon
To reiterate, when the first log begins:
Group 1 will have been in Ndiera for two months, Group 2 for one month, and Group 3 will have just arrived.
Regarding powers, those with powers can use them for a maximum of two (2) times before the ghost-matter will start to feed on them, meaning they will have to decide when and where to use these two times before they go powerless.
Viveca will provide those Orbers who might need it with a tonic that will alleviate any adverse effects they might experience from not using their powers.
Naephus is the biggest planet out of the three that make up Ndiera. The entire planet consists of multiple, sprawling cities connected to each other by speederways. Large skyscrapers reach for the stars, and the Federation insignia marks many of the buildings. The surface of the planet is covered in grimy streets, and only the brave — or the poor — use the streets that have become a hub of crime and various black market activity.
Nuhiri, the second-biggest planet in the Complex, is the polar opposite of Naephus: lush forests, crystal-clear lakes and even a few high mountain ranges present an ideal environment for the wealthy locals and travelers who want to stay away from the sometimes too-crowded, too-bustling city life. The capital, Xaolea, is both modern and curiously ancient, with sleek white buildings coexisting alongside stone-paved streets and pillars.
Deumia is the main centre of mining and technology — under direct Federation control, a wide variety of minerals are harvested for refining into products through the many factories scattered across the land. There is even a Federation Science Division Branch Office situated on the planet for more direct and efficient development of new technologies without having to first transfer raw material to the more central planets within the Galaxy.
ZANDR
Convicted with a life sentence for high treason and murder, there are as many stories about his crimes as there are stars in the Galaxy… and he’s done nothing to curb any of these rumours. Known for his penchant to work alone, Zandr is one of the most notorious criminals the Federation has ever had the luck of catching — and the misfortune of losing.●
Commander Grant L. Brennon
Current Commander of the Interstellar Federation, Brennon is a often described as immovable as the planets themselves. His strong sense of justice and abiding by the laws of the Federation, as well as his prowess in battle over the years makes him a highly respectable individual with an impenetrable reputation.
●
Chief of Staff Emerton G. Haughtford
A former Interstellar Ops member promoted to a higher position almost seven years ago for his excellent leadership skills and calm, measured manner of dealing with situations. Haughtford has been known to have an impeccable memory, and an eye for faces, which lends itself to feeling like more than just a number in his presence. He is someone to have in your corner whose trust is invaluable.
●
Chief of Security Adit B’nin
As Chief of Security, B’nin runs a tight ship. They are meticulous, deliberate and unyielding, and according to public poll within the greater galaxy, under B'nin's leadership, the people have never seen a safer time than now. They personally oversee the training of new recruits into the security division as a matter of preference.
●
Head of Science Department Ziahra Breezr
Laureate for the Caddel Prize for her ground-breaking research in ‘spectral particles’ otherwise known colloquially as ‘ghost-matter’, there is no one who appears to know more about the galaxy’s atmosphere than Breezr. Dedicated to her studies and to getting results, Breezr is not one to easily forgive mistakes as much of her job relies on perfect results.
This mission will span the months of April and May.
The team’s main objective is to find the orb and retrieve it. To do that, they have to find out which planet it is on, whether it is being used, and if it is, somehow get the current owner to hand it over to them.
As always characters are encouraged to share their findings and information through the network, and a mod-provided voting post will be posted later on in the month to prepare for Log #2.
The personal goals have been assigned, and can be found here. If you have any questions about your goal, please ask us here! In the same comment, there are instructions for what to do if you are unhappy with the task your character has received.
Please use this post to plot for the mission and make your own plotting comments. You can use the form below as a guideline:
Possum | Ryunosuke Naruhodo
Character: Ryunosuke Naruhodo
Personal task: His goal is "make every decision by flipping a coin for 24 hours", but he never does these... And he's also fairly disapproving of other people doing theirs, bc he's one of those guys who just doesn't trust these dang orbs! THAT SAID: I am 100% game to have him be an unwitting pawn in someone else's goal completion 8')
Arrival: Group 2! And he's going to be extremely worried about Yujin and Kazuma knowing that they'll be there an ENTIRE MONTH ahead of him, but he's just gonna have to SUCK IT UP AND DEAL W/ IT
General plans for the mission: Rubbing my hands together like a fly over here bc like. Crime and punishment? Laws? PRISONS? At last, something that's VERY MUCH in Ryu's wheelhouse. He can easily make a cover story out of what he already knows for this one, and I'm planning on having him get in DEEP with the system and seeing what he can find out from some of the higher ups. Depending on what details we get about whether this planet has some kind of judicial system, I'll probably have him be some kind of practicing law student... It's what he knows, and that way he'll hopefully have access to student resources, and the benefit of the excuse of not being 'fully trained' if he runs into any gaps in his understanding of how things work around there.
Barring that he'll play Herlock Sholmes and be some kind of investigator maybe??
What he IS going to be out of his element on is like.... Space stuff. His only experience w/ that is the Ximilia itself, so help from any seasoned space farers will be greatly appreciated, tbh.

Any idea what kind of apprenticeship Minimus is going for? Ryu's probably going to angle for a public defender's office instead of anything fancy.
