MISSION [ the big one ] + plotting post

OVERVIEWOBJECTIVEARRIVALLOCATIONSPERSONS OF INTERESTOOC NOTES

OVERVIEW

In the furthest stretch of the Llippe 99H3 Galaxy is Ciraiwei, a meager dwarf planet that has been home to the Hivawei for over two millennia. Here, the people yield to the overpowering force of nature, and while awareness remains of other planets in the galaxy, the Hivawei do not have the means for interplanetary travel, nor do they have any interest in it. Instead the life of the Hivawei is a simple one: to live in harmony with the very large nature that surrounds them.

OBJECTIVE

The team’s objective is to find the orb. Viveca has traced it to the planet of Ciraiwei, but there is a catch: time will not necessarily be on the team’s side. There is an asteroid hurtling towards Ciraiwei with direct impact scheduled for ten days after the team’s arrival. This impact is estimated to not only completely obliterate the dwarf planet, but the unknown repercussions of a collision with an entity as powerful as the orb could be catastrophic. The team must find and remove the orb from Ciraiwei before it is too late.

ARRIVAL

This time around the team will not have to worry about blending in. After making contact with the people of Ciraiwei, Viveca is able to convince them that a team of scientists will be sent over to catalog and retrieve samples of the planet’s native flora and fauna. The hope is that by using this as a cover, the team will not have to worry too much about subterfuge and instead focus on tracking down where the orb is in order to meet their deadline.

LOCATIONS

Hivawa is the largest of the four settlements around the planet. It is built into a clearing in the forest with small huts blending seamlessly into the mounds of moss and undergrowth. In the middle of the clearing there is an area of flat forest floor with multiple functions for the Ciraiwei such as: a marketplace, a landing area, and a meeting spot.

Yenat, the second-largest settlement, is built on the shore of Natec Pond, on top of large flowers and leaves that grow on top of the water. This settlement is inhabited mostly by the more fairy-like Hivawei as they flit from flower to flower and leaf to leaf in order to access each other’s houses.

The two smaller settlements coexist in harmony: Seriw, the settlement that has been built into the ground through tunnels and holes that criss-cross the large trees of Ciraiwei Forestland, and Ciarv which rests above Seriw, on the branches of trees that are accessible only to or with those Ciraiwei who are in possession of wings.

However, most of the planet is overtaken by nature: there are brooks, ponds and running streams; meadows with high grass and fragrant flowers; dark, deep areas of forestland that range from dryer mossland to something that more closely resembles a jungle. And among the planet’s lush landscape, there are various species of wildlife, which the Ciraiwei use for transport and food … though some creatures are better left alone.

PERSONS OF INTEREST

CHIEF YEREK
Yerek has been Chieftain of Ciraiwei for as long as anyone can remember. He is old and wise, though in recent years his eyesight has started to grow worse and he relies even more on his Majordomo, and his three grandchildren who support him in his daily activities. Chief Yerek is kind, leading his people by example, always reminding them to respect nature.

KEREMO
Also known as the bravest adventurer in the history of the Ciraiwei — or at least that's what he claims. Keremo can be found all around Ciraiwei traveling between the four settlements and venturing into the parts of the planet unknown and not easily accessible. But every once in a while he returns to Hivawa to regale the rest of the Hivawei with the tales of his adventures.

BLEICEN
As the Chieftain’s Majordomo, Bleicen is serious and reliable and takes care of the everyday matters, as well as trade between the different settlements. Originally from Yenat, Bleicen is familiar with the inner workings of all four settlements and Chieftain Yerek relies on his expertise and efficiency.

WINET
The leader of the Yenat settlement, Winet still answers to Chief Yerek but oversees many of the daily proceedings, making sure the waterside settlement runs smoothly. Winet may look imposing but she is actually very reasonable and always takes care to consider every matter from multiple perspectives before making a decision.

EVIT
A flower-hunter, Evit is Yenat’s best asset when it comes to finding and harvesting nectar from flowers outside of the settlement. While she might seem a little skittish and flighty, Evit’s determined nature and her extraordinary sense of smell make up for that.

CRIV & MELIS
The leaders of the Seriw and Ciarv settlements, Criv and Melis work closely together to manage their settlements. As they are a relatively long distance from both the other two settlements, Criv and everyone in the Ciarv settlement often carry those of the Seriw settlement to search for food.

OOC NOTES

OOCly, the mission spans the month March. ICly, the characters will only be on the planet for ten days, meaning they return to the station in the middle of March.

The team’s main objective is to find the orb and retrieve it. To do that, they will have to find out where exactly it is on the planet, whether it is being used, and if it is, somehow get the current owner to hand it over to them, all before time runs out.

Due to the time-sensitive nature of this mission, ICly, characters will only have twenty minutes from the mission file drop to teleportation.

In addition to this, while on Ciraiwei, the team will seemingly be shrunk down to roughly the size of field mice or perhaps it is that everything else on the planet has grown much larger in scale — all of this might just be a matter of perspective anyway. Nevertheless, the team will have to navigate the world in a way that many have likely never had to before.

Furthermore, players have the opportunity to create submissions for this planet’s bestiary here! These submissions will close on March 5th, 6PM GMT.

As always characters are encouraged to share their findings and information through the network, and a mod-provided voting post will be posted later on in the mission to plan for conclusion.

The personal goals have been assigned, and can be found here. If you have any questions about your goal, please ask us here! In the same comment, there are instructions for what to do if you are unhappy with the task your character has received. Please use this post to plot for the mission and make your own plotting comments. As we did not have a separate CR meme this month, feel free to use this plotting post as a CR meme.
