MISSION [ the darkest wild ] + plotting post

Noth 11X8 is a small, uninhabited planet overrun by nature and wildlife. Deemed unsafe and lacking value by the federation of planets within the galaxy it belongs to, Noth 11X8 has been left to its own devices for over a millennia. Thus, any real information on it is outdated, however last known records claim no sapient species reside there.
The team’s objective is to find the orb. Viveca has traced it to the planet of Noth 11X8, specifically within a volcano located in the center of the planet’s largest island. Due to the combination of the atmosphere of the planet and the orb’s influence interrupting the station’s technology, Viveca is unable to teleport the team to that exact island, and so the team must sail from a nearby smaller island to get to the orb.
Small island: Roughly 8km away from the main island at its closest points, the initial island the team will be teleported to is largely uneventful... which is good, because the focus is getting to the main island as fast as possible. How, exactly, the members of the crew accomplishes this will be a personal choice...
Main island: As the largest island on the planet, it boasts a number of co-existing ecosystems scattered throughout its near-perfect circular shape. At its very center is a volcano wherein the orb is located. The team will have to determine the best path to get to its center, and from there how to enter the volcano to retrieve the orb.
Volcano: Active and angry. Very hot.
Because the planet is (allegedly) uninhabited by sapient lifeforms, there are no listed Persons of Interest. Instead, the following Creatures of Interest are the known top apex predators of the planet, and should thus be dealt with caution or otherwise avoided.
Each creature is named after the brave scientists who lost their life to documenting the species.
TADEAX
On average, Tadeaxi are around 2-3 meters tall but a single Tadeax has been known to grow as tall as 4 meters and twice as wide. Obligate carnivores and scavengers, Tadeaxi typically use brute strength to take down their prey, charging and ravaging with their abundance of fangs and claws. Additionally, the spikes along the back of their head and shoulders regularly secrete a numbing poison to counter any creature foolish enough to try and get the jump on them.
●
KE'KRO
The last known documentation on these creatures written by Klaed Ke'kro, the zoologist who studied them, reads as thus: "May the merciful hand of Zomaela strike down the fool who wish to trifle with these beasts, as I wish She had done to me." Though on average no bigger than 5 centimeters, Ke'kros travel in swarms of up to a hundred and emit a high-pitched buzzing sound that can temporarily disorient their prey to the point of delirium. If your insanity doesn't get you first, their razor-sharp pincers and tail will.
●
QUEKLOREN
Quekloren are giant water serpents that can grow up to 15 meters in length. They are known to sleep either submerged in water or hanging from the sturdy branches of trees, easily blending into their environment. Despite their massive size, they are fast and don't even bother injuring before the kill; instead, they flex open their jaws and swallow any threats whole. If the crushing muscles of their esophagus haven't already done the job, the toxic acid from their stomach lining can melt through even steel.
This mission will focus on survival and teamwork. It takes place two weeks in the middle of November. Players who elect to have their characters participate in the mission will have those characters return to the station a week before November ends. Note that this will be the last mission for the year, as the crew will remain on the station throughout December.
The team’s main objective is to find the orb and retrieve it. This time around, they know exactly where the orb is, but the true struggle will be in the retrieval.
When the log drops and the mission officially begins, a glitch happens wherein some of the team gets teleported as they’re meant to, but then the rest do not. ICly, the characters have no idea this will happen, and thus have no choice on whether to remain or stay. The mission file is delivered with the understanding that everyone will participate as usual. OOCly, though, players have free reign to decide if they should like to participate in the mission or not. Please note that there are no IC or OOC benefits or repercussions for choosing either option.
For the characters who go on the mission, there will be a mod-created event log just like usual. For those who remain on the station, there will not be a mod-created log but players are encouraged to create their own, just like they would during any station downtime. While the intent of this mechanic is to allow for players to opt out of the mission for a little more breathing room to either focus on previous tags or what-have-you, note that there will be a slight metaplot opportunity for those stuck on the station — should they choose to approach Viveca or Degar about it — that will then get expanded on in December. Note that characters going on the mission will not be prevented from participating in this metaplot come December.
Please note that since this mission is a little more straightforward than the others, there will be no search requests or NPC threads. On the log there will be an opportunity for players to submit suggestions on the exact method of orb retrieval, similar to how they would for an OOC voting post; we will be using these to influence the mission’s conclusion. More information on this will be expanded in the log.
This time around, the personal goals will also be handled a little differently.
If your character gets sent on the mission, their goal will be:
Choose between injuring yourself or a fellow teammate.
If your character winds up getting stuck on the station, their goal will be:
Offer terrible advice to a fellow teammate, or enable their reckless behavior. Please use this post to plot for the mission and make your own plotting comments. If you're waiting to see what the mission entails before making a final decision, feel free to plot out both options! You can use the form below:
Castiel | Mission
Character: Castiel (circa end of season 5 / early season 6 for anyone SPN-familiar)
Personal goal: mostly interested in having him talk about how weird these goals are with someone who's been around longer tbh
General plans for the MISSION: I'm gently power nerfing Castiel for this mission by saying he was injured from the holy fire of last mission and his grace is still recharging. So he's still an angel but he's got very limited abilities, like healing someone will take it all out of him, and if he gets hurt himself, it'll last through the mission. Make things a little more interesting for this OP bastard that way. I'm hoping to force him to rely on others for help more this mission and try and fail to be human-ish, so anyone who wants a piece of that, come at me!
ETC: cas in general is very bad at socializing and very mission-focused, so he'll definitely be looking to get the orb and get back to the station asap, without getting anyone killed or destroying the planet, if at all possible.
