the ximilia puts on a play! audition sign-ups here!
Welcome to the first annual (?) production arranged by Little Ximilia Players! Rita Farr, a well-acclaimed Hollywood actress from the 1950s, has decided to direct an outdoor stage production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream for the crew of the Ximilia, as a way to keep people busy and spirits lifted during the downtime at the station between missions.
This little "player plot" will mostly be the process of putting the play together all in mingle format rather than writing out any IC performance of it. The general idea will be as follows:
β September 23rd: IC Network post to promote auditions
β September 23rd: OOC post to sign up for roles (this post)
β October 7th: IC Network post of auditions results
β End of October: IC Rehearsal mingle post after mission
β End of (?) December (tba depending on game calendar): IC log post for dress rehearsals and opening night
Though the characters will be promising a high commitment of their time to taking part in rehearsals and the performance, this little plot doesn't require any major commitment OOCly from you as a player! All posts will be optional to participate in, though I strongly encourage that your characters do make an appearance in one or two.
Sign-ups begin here on this post! And they will remain open until October 4th to allow a few days for new characters from the coming app round to sign up as well, before roles are assigned and posted on October 7th. ICly, characters will have their scripts before the next mission drops and will be encouraged to start memorizing their lines (especially if they can squeeze in some personal study during the mission somehow).
Here is a Sparknotes summary of the play, and below, I've included a list of the roles with the number of lines they have, so you have a realistic view of whether or not your characters can ICly memorize that many for those roles or would even want to act out that many. There's a wide range of parts to include as many characters as possible, but depending on the count of actual sign-ups, some parts may be double-cast, such as the working men (Flute, Snout, Snug, Starveling) also playing the fairies (Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth, Mustardseed).
Now, how will the roles be assigned? RNG! In the sign-up sheet, I will ask you to rate how skilled their audition performance is on a scale of 1 to 5. Depending on the number you provide, that will be the number of times their name is placed in the RNG. For example, let's say both Rita and Kovacs audition for the part of Puck. Rita has a fantastic audition rated 5 stars. But Kovacs is pitifully awful and rated 1 star. The RNG for casting Puck will look like this: (1) Rita, (2) Rita, (3) Rita, (4) Rita, (5) Rita, (6) Kovacs. Thus, Rita will have a higher chance of her name being pulled over Kovacs. RNG selection will also be done in order from roles with most lines to least.
So, finally, please go ahead and fill out the sign-up form below. If you want IC encouragement to get your character to audition, have them chat up Rita on her audition promotion network post. If you have any OOC questions, feel free to ask here in the comments.
