// PART I. rude awakening

… What are you willing to do to erase your regret from existence?

The words ring in your ears as in the darkness of your dream, an ocean-deep blue glow hovers in front of you. Transfixed, you reach out to it... only to hear a different voice, a distant echo of cruel laughter, and with a sudden certainty you know — whatever you’ve just agreed to has changed everything forever.

It is to this laughter that you wake, and as it fades and your heart slows into something resembling a normal tempo, you notice something you should have noticed immediately: you are not in your bed.

1.0   White walls, clinical yet clean, sparsely-furnished rooms. You may wake in one of three rooms: a room with only one bed, a room with two beds, or a room with four beds. Those waking up in rooms with more than one bed notice that they are very much not alone. Perhaps the other occupants of the room are still sleeping, dreaming the same dream as you just did, or a regular one after returning to the station just barely a week ago … or perhaps you wake to the other person in the room watching you.

What you do is entirely up to you: yell in surprise when you wake to someone staring at you? Or maybe you’ll try to sneak away before anyone notices you...

2.0   Those with life-threatening injuries find themselves awakening in the infirmary, in a regular hospital bed. Most of their injuries have been treated, and any lingering illnesses or conditions will have designated medicine bottles on the table next to the bed.

White curtains surround the bed on both sides, giving an illusion of privacy. But is that a rustling sound you hear? Some footsteps? Perhaps you’re not the only one in need of some medical attention... or you've attracted the attention of those with experience in medical aid, and they rush to your bedside, surprised about this sudden new patient.

It is not just for your injuries that you may want some company, but also for leaving the infirmary — you can’t stay there forever, after all, and will have to make your way through the hallways of the station to the living quarters, and claim a room and a bed there.

Once you’re up, you may notice there’s something in your ear: an earpiece that, when you become aware of it, quickly runs you through the instructions for how to use the network, a recorded message by a female voice that explains exactly why you’re here… and leaves you with a map of the station.

TOP

// PART II. such a lovely place

So what else is there to do but to explore? Best get to know what is now your new home.

3.0   When trying to decide where yo go, you may find your way to the armory, where you can try to work the machine there to make yourself a weapon — perhaps to replace one that didn’t come with you to the station… or maybe you want to be prepared for the future. The recently-returned team members will surely recommend having a functional weapon with you.

And speaking of weapons: to put it to good use, head to the training room, where the entire purpose is to provide you with a space to spar and train to your heart’s content!

4.0   After you’ve exhausted yourself training, it’s time to grab a bite. For that, you should head to the kitchen, which is equipped with all the basic appliances you might need, and ingredients for most regular dishes... and large amounts of chocolate. Weird.

5.0   A welcome reprieve to the cold, dark space that surrounds the characters can be found in the sunlight room. A skillful illusion surrounds anyone who steps inside the room: you can hear the trilling of birds, feel a light breeze caress your skin as you walk through a grass field. It seems that the illusion reflects the season — the leaves have fallen, a layer of white covers the ground, and the air is crisp and clean. If you follow the path, it leads to where a bridge rises over a brook that has now iced over — but maybe don't try your luck walking on it, as the ice may crack underneath your feet and you'll find yourself plunging into the freezing water.

Regardless of whether you like the wintery atmosphere, it is easy to forget you are in space at all. Perhaps that gives you comfort, or just makes you miss the real nature all the more.

6.0   If you’d rather choose tinkering over nature, the lab is guaranteed to provide you with some entertainment. Glass vials and jars of chemicals sit on shelves in a surprisingly beautiful display of colour on one side of the room, while the other side of the room contains stacks of boxes containing assorted equipment: cords, bolts, panels, buttons, gears, gadgets, gizmos, and thingamabobs. The downside is that the parts available seem to have no apparent method to their sorting. So get digging, and you may just find exactly what you need to make what you’ve always wanted to make!

7.0   If it’s items you’re lacking, though, some time after your arrival, the earpiece alerts you to a new message.

// VIVECA.AI
Hi, everyone. I hope you've had time to rest, and those new here have got acclimated with the station. Those who’ve been here for longer know the deal, but to the new arrivals: we've got new supplies on the platform. Hopefully you’ll find useful things there. If you made any requests for items, before, you should find them in a separate pile.

Indeed, the platform near the personal quarters is still whirring with power, and new items form neat piles on it. There’s clothes, shoes, dishware, skincare, books… even a couple of CDs, and a few cute stuffed animals. So sort through what there is and grab what you want, before someone else does!

// PART III. study aboard

Eventually, you’ll find yourself at the doors of the the simulation room — it has been equipped with a new simulation to take you through possible mission-like scenarios so it’s best to prepare yourself and see what it has in store for you.

8.0   The doors slide shut behind you and the room goes dark. Small pinpricks of light will start to build on each other until you’re surrounded by grey skies overhead and grassy green lawns, a row of old stone columns lining your vision. It seems you’re in a courtyard of some kind, but that’s not all. Something tugs at the hem of your sleeve or nudges at your leg, a warm presence that feels comfortable and ultimately very familiar. They look up at you, or maybe they meet your eye-level, a creature that varies in size, shape, colour, and form depending on what reflects you best. This creature, known as a compalion is a physical manifestation of your spirit or soul and will stay by your side on this journey.

You can stay here and get to know your compalion, or you can take your new companion and explore the campus. Because, if you do move forward past the line of columns (a hallway it turns out), you’ll find that the small cluster of buildings forms an academic campus of some kind.

NOTE:   Your compalion will adhere to the following rules.
a) They cannot go any further than a few yards away from their person; the further the distance, the more painful the separation will feel.
b) Your compalion will shift into one form throughout this simulation and can be any creature that best mirrors your personality.
c) They can be as small as a flea and as large as a small elephant; get creative!
d) Whether they speak to you in your native tongue is entirely up to you (some speak, some don’t)
e) Basically daemon rules apply.

9.0   While it might seem like fun to spend hours just exploring the old buildings with your compalion and any Orbers like you that you might bump into along the way, it’s important to remember that you have a goal to achieve: follow the clues and retrieve the orb. Your compalion might offer an idea or two for where to go, or it may just be voicing the thoughts in your head, but it’s not a bad thing to follow your heart (or your gut) as it were. You might find that the rooftops of the campus buildings are easily climbable to get a good vantage point of your location. (Just be careful not to slip and fall! The height from here is quite dangerous.) A clocktower stands proud in the distance among a cluster of other campus buildings, marking the time.

Inside, you might be led down dark stone halls and into a series of classrooms: including reading quarters, study rooms with old leather couches and warm carpets covering stone floors; lecture halls with stiff wooden seating and individual desks to match, a chalkboard with indiscernible scribbles half-wiped away; and a laboratory that deals with something a little less modern than you might be used to, or perhaps with its twisty vials and bubbling potions, it suits you perfectly. There is the large library filled from floor to ceiling with books beyond imagining.

If you look out from the tall arch-shaped window from a classroom, or if you’re outside and you tilt your head up to the sky, you might notice that the sky appears to be darkening further, growing heavy with what is inevitably an oncoming rainstorm. If you’re inside, it might be best to stay indoors; if you’re outside, perhaps it’s time to find some shelter. Or if you’re determined to find that orb outside, risk you and your compalion getting wet.

N O T E:   Additionally, there are three personal tasks provided to each character as they enter the simulation. In-game, each character will be given one task. For the purposes of the test drive, we’re leaving it to players to pick a task for their character and run with it.

A   Team up with another Orber and their compalion to find the orb's location.

B   Climb into the clocktower and ring the bell.

C   Explain your best theory regarding your compalion’s manifestation to a fellow team member.

4.0 . • KITCHEN
[ after having taken some time to wander through the station, wanda finds herself returning to the kitchen, feeling a strange sense of dizziness since she's arrived. her assumption is that it's to do with her limitations of her magic, something that's grown considerably weaker since her arrival, her disorientation no doubt connected to the way she's developed a sort of dependency on it as of late.

to have so much magic at your grasp and then deprived of it — it's not a comforting feeling.

instead of looking for food to ease her dizzy spell, she takes out a tea pot, setting the water to heat upon the stove for several minutes before it eventually screeches out with steam. when she begins to carefully pour it into her mug, watching the water color from the tea bag placed inside, she turns to see someone else stepping into the ktichen.

despite her terrible luck with making favorable impressions lately, she's still capable of politeness, offering a well-mannered smile to greet them, subtle on her lips. ]
There's enough water for another cup, if you'd like some too.

5.0 . • SUNLIGHT ROOM
[ she's no stranger to illusions, even if she's only recently learned of her own capability in creating them (if they were even illusions at all, or simply reality conjured from nothing; she's still learning, still attempting to understand the things she could do, but now she no longer has that book in her possession to find out—). but when she steps into the sunlight room, it isn't anything pieced together by magic, and she imagines it's crafted more by science than anything mystical, something more likely to be conjured up by the hands of tony stark than her own.

still, she could hardly criticize the craftsmanship, feeling the air like she's stepped out into sokovian fields in the midst of a breezy february, even prompting her to tuck her sweater a bit tighter over her body just to fight off the chill.

it's better out here (or rather, in here) than the rest of the station, the cold here more comfortable than the cold within the emptier walls along the other rooms, even if she knows this place is just as much of a lie as most anything she's tried to find a serene moment in. but she's used to it, the way it breaks apart eventually.

perhaps that's what draws her to step upon the ice of the brook, her boots slow and steady as she moves along the crystallized surface, wondering just how well it might hold together. eventually, the sound of the cracks reaches her ears, even before she hears a nearby voice shout out to her (perhaps they're warning her of the breaking ice or maybe they intend to run over to rescue her), but as the ice breaks apart beneath her feet, rather than plunge into the water with it, her palms splay out at her sides, a red wisp of energy blossoming beneath it, allowing her body to float directly into the air. ]

9.0 . • LIBRARY
[ when stepping into the library of the campus, some may be met by a peculiar cat appearing in their path along the rows of shelves. the initial appearance seems nothing out of the ordinary, just a simple domesticated cat with purely black fur, but in moving forward or side to side, the fur almost seems to shimmer, as if from certain angles, the hairs of the cat gradually become more crimson, and even at times, a shade of bright red.

whether an illusion or not, the animal only seems vaguely curious of the new visitor before it races down a row of shelved books, onto the other side where a row of desks are arranged and lit by candlelight, surfaces cluttered with open hardcovers. some books even float in the air, red mist surrounding it to keep it up, as wanda pursues through the pages with intent concentration — most featuring the topic of magic and witchcraft.

the woman herself appears to be floating too, cross-legged as she hovers over a desk, her attention hardly given to the spell that keeps her in the air, almost as if it's become second nature. when the cat reaches her, it hops, as if to jump on one of the desks, except it seems to land on air instead, paws walking atop of nothing, purring as it rubs its face against wanda's thigh.

if the new visitor comes closer, it might finally enable the witch to look up, untangling her legs as she brings herself down to the ground to return standing on her own two feet again. ]
I was just looking for something.

[ooc: Although it is unlikely to come up directly in conversation, there may be themes of suicidal ideation throughout his threads due to canon point so just a head's up.]

Part Two: Sunlight room

[Wei Wuxian wakes up, which really isn't what he was expecting. There's the memory of a dream on his mind and a voice in his ear offering an explanation. He listens quietly, instinctively filing away bits and pieces that hold no meaning to him and then folding them neatly and putting them away. He understands the important parts.
He pulls the earpiece out and holds it in his hand, and there's a faint pull of curiosity in him—the stirrings of a need to know how it works—but it fades as quickly as it came. The earpiece gets tucked into his robes and he stands.

Everything here is wondrous. None of it feels real. The only thing that keeps him from assuming it isn't an extremely weird dream is the fact that he can feel the floor beneath him. There's a slight chill that settles on his skin. His palm, when he digs a nail in to see what will happen, still hurts. Still bleeds. He frowns and continues to wander.

After a while of wandering, Wei Wuxian finds himself in an impossible place—the sunlight room. He knows it's an illusion from the moment he steps in, but the breeze feels real, the birdsong sounds real. It's a very clever illusion—better than any other he's ever seen.

Illusion or not, it's peaceful here and he settles himself on the bridge, feet swinging idly over the water.
]

Part Two: Armory

[After he's had some time to wander around and accept that this is, if not real, than at least real to him, he finds himself in the armory. Or a room that is labeled "Armory" but consists only of a single contraption in the middle of the room. Curiosity finally beginning to win out over the haze he'd woken in, he approaches the device with a frown. There's not much to work with, just a box like device and a flat desk attached, but when he gets close enough he notices that the flat desk is lighting up.

Drawing a finger over it, his eyes widen further when he realizes it reacts to touch. Huh. That's certainly different.

Never one to shy away from figuring something out, he proceeds to continually move his fingers over the desk, pressing here and there and touching various options that pop up. He has absolutely no idea what he's doing, but he's determined to keep doing it until he makes something happen. Eventually, something does happen.

There's a noise from the device that absolutely does not make him jump, and suddenly there is a...fish lying in front of him. A very heavy metal fish. He picks it up and almost drops it, fumbling it in his hands because he wasn't prepared for the weight.

So if anyone is wondering why there is a man standing in the middle of the armory holding a metal fish, he doesn't know why either.
]

Part three

[When Wei Wuxian said that the sunlight room was the most advanced illusion he'd ever seen, he'd been wrong. Or well, he'd been proven wrong immediately after. This place—the campus he's been walking around for some time now—is much more advanced.

He gets sidetracked in the library for far longer than he should and then gets turned around in the hallways. Eventually though, he makes it out to the clocktower, ignoring the slowly darkening sky to lean over to the magpie sitting on his shoulder and offer with a grin that doesn't quiet reach his eyes,
]

Well, I've fallen from higher places. [The Magpie turns to him and gives him an extremely unimpressed look. He didn't know birds could give judgmental looks but he is absolutely being judged by a bird. Laughing, he approaches the clocktower and begins to walk around the base, all the while his eyes on the bell at the top.]

Okay...[he says aloud, maybe to the bird or maybe to no one at all,] Okay, if I can just...[he goes quiet again and drops to the ground. There's a blank talisman paper in front of him that he's pulled from his robes, and then he's mumbling to himself as he bites a finger and begins tracing various lines and characters on the paper with his blood. After a while of mumbling to himself like a madman and ignoring the growing signs of oncoming rain, he stands and slaps the talisman against the tower. The characters on the paper glow bright red.

Smirking, Wei Wuxian places a hand against the wall, and then another, and then a foot, and this his other foot. He is now ancient Chinese Spiderman. Like that, he climbs roughly six feet in the air, the bird on his shoulder squawking indignantly at him and pecking at his neck.
]

Ow, okay. Why are you so—[Instead of finishing his sentence, Wei Wuxian's grip on the wall fails, his talisman goes dark, and he falls six feet to his back with a loud thump and a pushed out breath of air.]

Ah...ow.

And if you think trapping me is going to get him here, it really isn't. He already left me and the rest of our--my--team stranded in the wrong time. We broke up and honestly, if he did show up, I bet I'd hit him before you did. Stupid jerk.

[ For some reason, every time Finn runs into someone new on this station, he's surprised. Granted, the group of them go through one hell of a bonding session during a mission, so suddenly finding someone he doesn't recognize is alarming for at least half a second.

Ironically (though he doesn't know it yet), this reminds him of the first time he met McCoy. The other looks entirely relaxed here already, making themselves at home. It's a sharp contrast from Peter Quill's arrival, when he was getting bullied and beat up by the cleaning droid.

But anyway, more to the present, Finn takes a glance around the other's work area and... ultimately decides not to argue as he approaches. Didn't Erik immediately start cooking, too? It's a thing. ]

[personal profile] yuujyou 2022-02-18 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
//... such a lovely place [7.0]

[Yamato, by habit and by nature, was pretty used to the bizarre. One didn't grow up the way he did without learning how to roll with the punches, to have protocols in place in case he gets whisked away into the Digital World unexpectedly. It didn't make things better, but it made it easier, to wake up in an unfamiliar room after a bizarre dream. The only downside was, after checking his belongings, this time he was completely alone in a sense that he hadn't gotten used to yet. No friends, no family, no partner.

It sucks.

The earpiece, though. That had probably inwardly freaked him out more than he'd ever admit, especially when a voice and a map pops up out of nowhere. He adjusted to it quickly enough though, especially when he realized it was friendly, but he definitely had to be more cautious of what he did just because of it.

Which is how he finds himself looking through the newly arrived supplies. Clothes, luckily, he had some on the bed he woke up in. Creepily too, because that feels like a deep invasion of privacy, but he can worry about it later. Instead, he roots through it for other things. He's got body wash and a towel in hand by the time he notices someone else coming in, glancing at them with a neutral expression, trying to assess if they're friend or foe. No one had attacked him on the way here, and as far as he can tell, this place didn't have any digimon. That meant this isn't the digital world. He also hadn't seen signs of his family or friends, though whether that's a good thing or not is up for debate.

For now, it's him and a stranger, and a lot of things to go through. A few cds were stacked to his side, though they were piled up less looking like he was taking them so much as he had simply set them aside for being in the way.]

... If you're looking for something specific, nothing's organized, so you'll have to root through the boxes one by one.

[He offers, when eye contact is made, before he looks away again and continues his search. Sorry, he's a bit awkward.]

//... such a lovely place [3.0]

[After he's looted through the things he can, returning what little he had gathered back into the room he woke up in, he goes to the next logical place to visit-- the kitchen. Food was necessary, after all, but more than that, he needed to know what he was working with.

That, and hunger, because it's not like there's much he can do now when he doesn't know where to start looking. He's inspecting some of the items for anything suspicious (bugs? drugs? poison? shapeshifters?) before looking for more specific things, until he finally cracks and approaches someone. He's in a forced casual pose, even as he tries to come off as less intimidating as he asks.]

Hey, are you familiar with this kitchen? I need some help looking for things.

//... study abroad

Gabumon?!

[The simulation room catches him by surprise more than any other place, which admittedly is a feat because this place has been throwing him off left and right since he woke up. He had skipped a few of the rooms because he hadn't quite known what he needed them for yet, and went straight to this one because of the curious nature of it.

Finding someone who isn't supposed to be there suddenly manifesting next to him, holding his hand-- well, that's enough to ruin that lone wolf persona he's been adapting since he got here. In fact, he's on his knees, flabbergasted, even as he inspects the creature next to him. There are tears in his eyes, welling up, but not yet falling even as he continues to speak.]

Gabumon, what are you doing here? Is this really you?

[The thing is, the compalion doesn't speak, simply basks in the affection as Yamato stares at him in wonder. That, alone, seems to make his expression crumble, when he realizes what that means.]

... You're not him.

[It was too good to be true anyway. Still, that leaves a fully-grown man wiping his eyes in the middle of the courtyard. Despite what he says though, he still pats the compalion on the head, when it watches him carefully, acknowledging that it was friendly.]

[ When confronted with a different world — even if she were stretching the definition of the word 'world' here — Ciri always sought out two things: Food and shelter. The latter was already taken care of, with plenty of places in these winding metal halls to take refuge. She could easily slip anyone's notice if she were careful. When she found the kitchens to solve her next problem, it proved her point.

Tucked into a corner with her Zireael still strapped to her back and halfway through a plate of cold meats and pickled vegetables had the boy finally noticed her.

Ciri hadn't said anything when he entered. She had taken one look at him and recognized that dream-like wonder in his eyes that gave him tunnel vision. Either he was overwhelmed, starving, or both, but she knew better than to get in the way of someone who looked like food back home was going out of style. He had that loping, furtive gait of a person not comfortable with being still. And the table manners of a wolf, too. Not that she was passing judgment. ]

[That whole floating up shindig was pretty impressive, especially for a guy who doesn't have any particular special power aside aside from friendship which-- okay, not useful here. Not even working, really, because his companion isn't quite the right shade of digital. Not that he can say as much, because he had in fact been doing things the manual way and walked up the tower just to ring it. It was an easy enough task, if not a bit strange.

His compalion may not be the right guy, and maybe it was unfair to it that he's thinking that way, but it's quiet presence was calming. Like fitting a piece of a puzzle into place, even if it's not quite the right one at the moment. A temporary placeholder.

[mal's head is pounding as he comes to, drawn from sleep by white light that shines brighter than the sun and the distant memory of cruel laughter. his heart races and then slows, as is released from a heartrender's grip. mal's become too familiar with that, he thinks as his mind wanders to wakefulness.

but then he's very quickly aware of someone walking over, suddenly in his space as he opens his eyes.

he glances around, realizes that his rifle isn' there and the ravkan army issued pistol he'd been holding before --- before this -- is out of reach on the small table beside the bed. mal's shit out of luck, looking up at the woman staring down at him.

the army's got mal pretty used to waking up to someone barking orders, so he's not as shocked as someone else might be. not pleased, sure, but this isn't a total shock to the system. no one else called mal smart. so he looks around, knowing well that given the woman's tone he's probably playing with fire.]

[Malleus turns when he hears someone speak.

He looks at this boy, eyebrow raised.]

Indeed.

[Then he looks at the... What is that thing? and raises both eyebrows in surprise.]

What, exactly, is your friend?

RUDE AWAKENING: the infirmary

[ he trades the thorn wood for an infirmary, his hands skittering toward the bone-deep ache in his chest only to find what should be a fatal wound has somehow stitched itself up into a neat, star-shaped scar settled directly over his heart. clean bandages cover his palms and legs where the thorny stalks had pierced his flesh, his fingers bare, blackened scars trailing down his skin.

saints, i’m dead. but he isn’t. he wasn’t dead on elizaveta’s floating castle and he isn’t dead now, his ears ringing as he pushes himself out of bed, ignoring the protest of his sore limbs. his movements briefly halt at the sound of footsteps, fingers itching for his saber or at least his revolvers — he’s not one to shoot first, but under the present circumstances, he’s more than a little tense and half-expecting elizaveta’s lethal swarm of bees to have followed him here. in which case, no revolvers, then. zoya’s suggestion to shoot at bees had perhaps been her most ridiculous yet. where the hell is his general?

without hesitation — or a plan — he sweeps the white curtains aside, eyes bright and mouth pulled into a sharp smile.
] I don’t suppose you’ve seen any strange sights lately? A horde of bees? Stalks of thorns with golden sap threatening to drown you? An extraordinarily striking woman with black hair who looks like she wants to end your life without reason?

SUCH A LOVELY PLACE: the sunlight room

[ the whole of the room is an extremely clever illusion, as lush as the gardens and hothouses in the grand palace and frightfully real — so much, in fact, that he has to keep reminding himself that this is but another saintsforsaken realm he must find his way out of. the voice from his dream echoes in his thoughts, the strange pact that he can’t be sure is real. he wishes his doubts were larger, but after everything he’s seen and endured, disbelief would be the choice of the foolish.

he investigates the picaresque deception thoroughly, finding the snow unremarkable and the ice cold enough to burn his skin. it isn’t until he gets closer to the bridge that he hears a ruckus — sharp cries and the panicked splashing of water. breaking into a run, he reaches the frozen brook in time to see a head go underwater, a hand desperately reaching up for help. he doesn’t think. the water shocks him when he plunges in, his muscles threatening to seize with the cold, but familiarity takes over. he’s a practiced swimmer, the sea more of a home than anywhere else, and he dives down quickly and wraps an arm around this hapless soul.

Stop — struggling. [ they break the surface together, nikolai immediately trying to untangle himself, his teeth chattering. ] I have far too many questions to drown today.

[Daisy heads into the sunlight room to see if Andy is in here, and is caught completely off guard by who she finds instead? It's like the wind just got knocked out of her as she comes to an abrupt stop a few feet away. For a moment she's rendered speechless, just watching her as a bunch of different emotions hit her all at once.

Tears welling up in her eyes she finally finds her voice.]

He knows that voice.

He knows that looming figure.

Valentines day? Something to do with romance, I think.

[And since Touchstone isn't here, it's utterly irrelavent to Sabriel. Although between the starvation and the bloodshed, she doubts anyone was feeling particularly amorous.]

As for the food... Our last mission brought us to a town that someone had made a bargain to try to bring back after every living thing there died. The problem was that whatever power a single orb holds, it wasn't enough- so the people acted like... bad simulacrums, the food was flavorless, and it turns out, what we were eating was ash, if it wasn't just air.

And then the illusion ended and I'm not sure if that was better or worse.

[Not a digimon, even if he already knew that. There were dragon-type digimon though, so he had half a mind to assume it was that-- but no, it was a regular dragon. Which, admittedly, would be pretty amazing if he wasn't still kind of reeling over the whole transported-to-yet-another-world experience. Seriously, why wasn't Koushirou here when he needs him most?

The question has him glancing at the compalion, who glances back at him as if sharing his thoughts, before they both look at Malleus.

His eyebrows furrow at the horns-- cosplay? or digimon? or dragon?-- but he does answer, even if he's keeping himself firmly rooted to the spot, neither coming nearer or farther, just a little out of the way for incoming people.]

He's-- called Gabumon. He's not the Gabumon I know, but...

[He is one, which is fitting if he knew the reason for the manifestation. Gabumon was basically a piece of his soul, his companion for life, and perhaps a reflection of the better parts of Yamato.

Once he notices the sky darkening though, he steps out a little more to give Malleus some room to come in.]

What was he, Welsh? Christ. Bloody embarrassing.

[He fiddles with his cigarette, thinking. A bit out of his depth, maybe, but when has that ever stopped him? He shakes his head.]

[of all the places on the ship, the sunlight room is mal's favorite. illusion or not, it's nature. there's nowhere the tracker would rather be than out in the forest, surrounded by the sounds of birds and other creatures.

or maybe the quiet, stillness of the forest as whatever he's tracking attempts to hide.

so when he orients himself and figures out the lay of the station, the sunlight room's pretty much his stomping ground. it's not real, but he prefers this over the rest of it. the sterile cold of a place he doesn't fit into. his coat keeps him warm from the cold, but truly the crisp air isn't nearly as chilly as what he's experienced during a mild ravkan winter. he's making his way across the bridge, heading to the other side where it's easier to get to the pond when he hears the woman speak.

before the stag, mal would have thought mythical creatures were just that. myths. but then the stag happened and now he's here, on this station, trying to undo a mess he could have avoided. so.]

[ Zoya is too proud to claim she would ever go scavenging through the piles of clothes like scrap, but she is also a Material Girl who needs to look her best. Her eye catches on some of the more lavish items, skincare and makeup with foiled packaging, gold caps, and glass containers reflecting under the ship lights.

With a flick of her hand, she turns the recycled air to knock an errant scarf over the pile of lotions and balms. Just as someone else might be picking it up to investigate underneath, she snatches up a rather expensive jar of face cream, a dragon collecting it for her hoard. ]

You can have that one.
