As owning an alien pet is a sign of privilege and wealth in Braccia, acquiring one is not something easily done (nor without a great amount of funds). Furthermore, as of right now, Viveca doesn't allow pets on the station, so if Peter manages to gift Yelena with a cute lil alien puppy, unfortunately it won't travel with them back to the station.
