[ The Doctor pauses now, and in the midst of considering another egg or a little more flour too, so you know it's important. Everything now seems to be focusing on the very peculiar words this man has just said, all without his usual distractions.

He gives this stranger a good study, but wisely decides he'll keep his distance, pizza boxes and silver bowls of batter sitting between them. It isn't always a thing that he does, respecting other people's space, but the Doctor has been known to have some sense of self-preservation every now and then.
