Shen Jiu doesn't even realize there's a communication array until it gets brought up, at which point he pokes at the thing in his own ear, scowling at the urge to simply pull it out and toss it.

That scowl freezes for a moment when he gets it to actually start talking at him, accompanied by the slightest stutter in his step - but he quickly covers it up again, dedicated as ever to looking like he isn't a total newbie in the cultivation world. (Not that this has anything to do with cultivation.) "We may not be in danger, but we're still trapped, aren't we? Unless this array has information on how to get out of this place."

At which point he starts cautiously messing around with the thing in hopes of finding exactly that, though it's somewhat difficult to do while walking.
