The Doctor notices the slow pacing and stops, "Need some help?" Offering his arm to lean on. Then remarks, "Nope, haven't found anyone yet who belongs here. Just some sort of ship that takes in people from other places."

In other words, The Doctor is much more interested in who is in charge and why are they here.
