Sherlock Holmes. [Yujin repeats, as if convincing himself that he really has heard the name. Before that can settle, however, Sherlock points out his reaction. He blinks, dumbfounded: he hadn't really given his coffee cup much thought, but of course Sh-- Holmes would, wouldn't he?]
I suppose it's no use, trying to hide anything from you. [he says, resigned. With a sigh he pulls a chair nearer to the bed, takes a seat in it, and gestures for Holmes to take a seat as well.]
What I'm about to tell you might sound unbelievable, Mr. Holmes, but I promise that it is the truth.
[He pauses to take a breath. When he speaks again, his tone's wistful.]
More than sixteen years ago now, I arrived in London and took up rooms with a young consulting detective. I accompanied him on his cases as a partner, recording notes on our adventures all the while.
