but iris has never had anyone so much as express interest in his skills, let alone anything close to acceptance or approval. it wasn't very long ago he'd been so desperate to show anybody and everybody the things he could do, before his very own mother was quick to remind him such talents can only lead to pain and misery. seeing it firsthand, the destruction it can cause... witnessing the devastation of the fallout in the eyes of people who can't see anything in him past all that they've lost...
