Wildcard; literally anywhere: ...look...I gotta wait for a text post but I had to.

[There are, Wei Wuxian has come to understand, very few things in life that were certain. The sun would rise (even if he lived on a space station and couldn't see it.) The grass would grow. Life would continue on in spite of all the small tragedies and joys that seemed to the individual to be world ending revelations. Of these things, he was certain.

There were smaller certainties too. Certainties that perhaps wouldn't stand up to a test, but that he felt sure of all the same.

He felt sure of the fact that when Gwen found out that he'd stolen her last lavender bath bomb, she would be webbing him to the wall in retaliation. He was sure that if he asked Chuuta to help him in the kitchen, Chuuta would already be on his way with a meal plan to put some of the greatest chefs to shame.

And he was certain that for all of the perils that might be present on board the Ximilia, it was beautifully, wonderfully, free of all things canine. So it is with the confidence of a man who has walked these halls for a near year and knows them intimately that he turns a corner, casually. Innocently. Only to come face to face with a thing of nightmares.

There. Standing in the hallway. Hideous and yellow, eye sparkling with intelligence and teeth gleaming in the lamplight. There is a dog.

He pauses for a moment to absorb the shock to his system, a pause that would never have occurred anywhere else, and then just as the mangy beast turns its head his way, Wei Wuxian lets out a scream.

He runs. He does not look back. He does not stop until he is back in his room with the wards activated and the door locked.

Nothing is safe anymore.
