[ Uh, yeah. Understated was putting it mildly. ]

A couple months? [ Jake balks, as if completely unsure what to do with this information, but very aware that he should be doing something. ] Wait, wait, wait...

[ Squeezing the space above his muzzle, Jake takes a breath. It's a gesture Natasha may have seen Finn do once or twice; their resemblance came through in less traditional ways. When the dog speaks again, he's a little more centered. ]

Sorry. You're being really helpful, I'm just a little wigged he's been all alone here so long. [ The anxiety feels very real, if only for a moment. Jake is hasty to add: ] Not that Finn can't handle himself! Just, you know how it is.

[ He assumes, anyway. Jake was no good at all with human ages, but this one's demeanor had a flavor that tasted distinctly adult. And, in Jake's experience, your heart walking around outside your chest was a frustrating feeling many adults had in common. ]
