That's not the same thing, Spock. You're talking about another version of yourself, someone we knew we could trust. But we don't know these Orbs, and we don't know what the Commander wants them for. What we're doing now, during these missions, it's already changing things, causing losses, taking what isn't ours to take.

And that's without considering what the end result will be. The more Orbs are gathered, the stronger they get, and we don't know what their true purpose is.
